LEED for Homes Green Rater Services
Besides being an energy efficient home, LEED homes incorporate many other environmentally responsible features. Each feature is assigned a certain point value, with thresholds established for Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum certification levels. The LEED for Homes program requires the services of a Green Rater to verify green features of a home, and act as a liaison between the builder and USGBC (United Stated Green Building Council) Provider.
Process:
A builder interested participating in the LEED for Homes program must first register his project with the USGBC . The builder then works with a LEED for Homes Provider and associated Green Rater to plan, build, and certify the home. AES currently provides Green Rater services through the Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC) of Boulder, CO.
LEED certified homes use less energy and resources to build and operate the home, while increasing homeowner comfort and creating a healthier environment for living.
